This event used to be one of the pinnacle moments of the year as a young boy.
Goose Fair.
It was a place of magic and unforgettable smells, sights and toffee apples, candy floss and sugar dummies. Even the walk, the journey from my childhood home to the fair was filled with thrilled anticipation whilst charged with frustration that this short distance was taking too long.
And I can not miss out the rides.
Amazingly, my nostalgia is continued in the lives of our three boys and it's true joy to live the magic and unforgettable smells, sights and toffee apples, candy floss, sugar dummies and rides with them and through their sequels, smiles and sucrose highs.
Peas are now a lived experience too. A favourite childhood memory of my wife's visits to the fair.
The whole experience also has the best end - The Scouts doughnuts. A standard purchase for any hard core fair fan. And those who know, know.
Long live Goose Fair - despite the hyper inflated prices - it never disappoints.
