I find myself to be a blender when in groups of large people. This introverted skill or comfort-zone to mingle in the background serves me well when capturing the flavour and fragrance of events; it helps to see what most won't when they are involved in what is going on around them.
It was a superb night documenting and participating in Helen and Shaun's joint 40th birthday celebration. The buzz was palpable, the dance moves freeing, the cake legendary and the fire chief's visit a surprise thanks to the over indulgent smoke machine whose pillars gushing into the lower rooms and out of the venue windows alerted indoor alarms and local residents to call the fire brigade.
It only added to the memory of the night where a good time was had by all.
