On Friday 26th August 2022, I had the privilege of joining artist Christopher Day at the unveiling of his commission glass piece that will take up a permanent residency at the very impressive Stourbridge Glass Museum.
It was a magnificent occasion and one that brought a personal sense of joy, not just because of the pleasure of being in the company of Christopher and his friends and supporters, but also to celebrate a mixed race creative who is using his talents and passion and identity to push forward the cultural conversations surrounding black and mixed heritage people in the UK. Like Christopher, I am of mixed Jamaican and English heritage and to share this moment with Christopher and celebrate the incredible work he is doing and exposing, was a great honour.
After the Darkness, the Light is a truly superb display of craftsmanship and distinctiveness.
